Telemobil, the company providing the latest mobile data and voice service in Romania, Zapp Mobile, enlisted the services of LLP Bucharest, in order to manage its business more efficiently.
LLP Bucharest, which specialises in IT solutions for companies, provided and implemented the integrated business management application SunSystems to Telemobil.
The officials of the two companies estimate the initial investment, worth some $250,000, will be recovered in 12 months following the implementation of the system, mainly by making the sales and distribution activity more efficient, as well as by minimising stocks and increasing their rotation speed.
US-based Qualcomm Group bought the controlling interests in Telemobil through Inquam in 2000, which led to major changes being made in the strategy of the company in Romania.
Telemobil launched the Zapp Mobile service in early December 2001. It started out by covering more than 60 cities and towns, along with many communes and national roads.
This territorial expansion was also supported by the development of a powerful network of more than 30 shops throughout the country and partnerships with local companies.
The strategy of the company resulted in a powerful growth of its business, and implicitly of the complexity of the financial and business data volume that had to be processed.
In case the company had used the IT system it had, it would have taken much longer to process the data and deliver the reports needed by the corporation or locally.
This prompted Zapp Mobile to implement an integrated solution that could provide the decisional and operational support required by the entire company, and the company specialists chose SunSystems after a selection process.
"We chose SunSystems because it has all the necessary features of a solution tailored to our business: flexibility, compliance with the Romanian and international accounting standards, as well as low maintenance costs. Last but not least, the operational pressures generated by the launch of Zapp Mobile required selecting a solution that could be implemented quickly, but at the same time capable of coping with the accelerated growth of our company over the next few years," Cristian Catu, Zapp Mobile general manager-financial said.
The implementation was carried out along with a complex analysis and redefining of every business process within the company and included every department from accounting, stocks, sales and acquisitions to the management level.
The architecture of the system is an "online" type one, which allows every territorial branch to access the central server located in Bucharest.
This makes it possible to update data and reports in real time, and significantly cuts the maintenance and support costs of the application, as well.
SunSystems runs on a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server platform, installed on a Compaq multiprocessor server. |
