Dear Partners,
I want to
take this oportunity to announce you that the 7th edition of ROCS
(ROmanian Computer Show) will take place at Marriott Hotel Bucharest
between 27 - 30 of November.
Since its
first edition, ROCS (Romanian Computer Show) has been an event
dedicated to the solutions for the professional IT&C market,
which, year after year, tried to identify the main trends of the
sector for the following period. These main trends - as we identify
them - are determined by the international evolutions and also
by the trends in Romania.
The international
environment is complicated. The September tragedy added to the
context of a real recession in IT&C changed considerably the
orientation of the IT&C global market. The business environment
will be different, from products to solutions, the market will
consolidate with mergers and acquisitions and all the corporations,
in the IT or non-IT market (including communications), will be
more cost focused, at least for the immediate period. Romania
finds itself in an interesting position. There is a national strategy
(and therefore an obvious political will to encourage this sector
considered prioritary), there are national programs and also a
coherent legislative system begins to coagulate in order to push
forward the development of the field. This would be the general
background for the ROCS 2001, an environment that has to be considered
in identifying the most important trends for 2002. These are the
reasons for including a few "premieres" in our proposals
for this year's edition.
At first we
have to pay the same attention to the sector of telecommunications,
considering the challenges that can be foreseen for the year 2002
in Romania, on the background of the liberalization of the fixed
telephony market in January 2003. After that, the management of
the financial and information resources will be the subject of
the ERP/CRM section. The document management, digital solutions
and "the tools of the modern manager" will represent
the subject of an important section of ROCS 2001. Considering
the success of the seminar dedicated to the data security, that
we organized in June, we will open again the subject for discussion.
The day of "Security" represents one of the subjects
we approach very seriously in ROCS. This is one of the hot issues
that all the governmental or non-governmental organizations will
have to consider, both national and international.
We have recently
received from IDC the data regarding the situation of the market
for the second quarter of the year. One of the good news is that
the business sector is responsible for 60% of the sold IT equipment
and services. It might be a good sign of the private sector recovery
or just a favorable juncture. We shall try to answer these questions
in another premiere-section of ROCS, "Solutions for the small
and medium enterprises". The system integrators, that we
believe will play a considerable role in the important projects
for the following years, will be invited in the section dedicated
to the communication infrastructures, together with our editors
and potential clients. In the end, another premiere of ROCS will
be a workshop dedicated to the Romanian software, event that will
provide the occasion for IDG Romania to grant five "The Key
of Success" prizes. We believe that, due to the international
environment, outsourcing may become an important opportunity for
the Romanian industry, where the premises and necessary optimism
for a substantial growth in the next years already exist. You

I invite you
to repeat, together with us, the success of ROCS. Your participation
in this event, the same as before, will have an essential contribution
to the success of the event, and together, we shall be able to
identify and build, at the end of this year, the major trends
of the Romanian market and the best solutions of approaching them.
