Assistant
Secretary of Commerce for Market Access and Compliance William
H. Lash, III will visit Bucharest, Romania, on March 18-19,
to hold bilateral commercial discussions with the Romanian Ministers
of Foreign Affairs; Communications and Information Technology;

further improve Romania's business climate.
Lash's
visit is a concrete example of the continual cooperation between
the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Romanian Government.
Recent successes include: (1) the February 2002 Seminar on Intellectual
Property Rights held in Washington, DC; (2) the Commerce Department's
Good Governance Program supporting the development of a Code
of Business Conduct in Romania; and (3) the Western Romania
Initiative that works to promote greater U.S. commercial involvement
in 11 counties of Western Romania.
