Recital
de muzica americana sustinut de J. David Harris, clarinet
Cu
prilejul Festivalului International "Jeunesses Musicales"
-Bucuresti, Centrul Cultural American are placerea sa invite
jurnalistii interesati sa participe la un recital de muzica
americana sustinut de J. David Harris, clarinet.
Programul
va include "Sonata pentru clarinet si pian" de Leonard
Bernstein, "Trei preludii pentru clarinet si pian de George
Gershwin" in adaptarea lui James Cohn. Recitalul va include
si "Sonatina pentru clarinet si pian" de Joseph Horowitz
si "Rapsodia pentru clarinet solo" de Wilson Osborne.
La pian va acompania Verona Maier.
Recitalul
va avea loc luni 13 mai, la ora 18:00, la Centrul Cultural American,
str. Jean Louis Calderon nr. 7-9. Accesul se va face pe baza
legitimatiilor de presa.

B.M.
and M.M. (clarinet performance), Cleveland Institute of Music;
additional studies at the Blossom Festival School, Sewanee Summer
Music Center, and Tennessee Temple College; student of Robert
Marcellus, James Livingston, William Scarlett, and Frank Witherspoon.
Harris
has played with the Cleveland Orchestra on many occasions as
extra and substitute clarinet. He was first clarinet with the
Cleveland Symphonic Winds and for six seasons was principal
clarinet with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra. He has taught
at Louisiana State University, Kent State University, Interlochen
Arts Academy, and Sewanee Summer Music Center.
He
has appeared as soloist with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Champaign-Urbana
Symphony, Sinfonia da Camera, and as guest principal clarinet
with the Knoxville Symphony. As principal clarinetist with the
Illinois Symphony Orchestra, he was soloist in a performance
of the Nielsen Clarinet Concerto.
He
is also principal clarinetist with Sinfonia da Camera, the Champaign-Urbana
Symphony, and the UIUC Summer Music Festival Orchestra. Harris
has been a featured performer for the International Clarinet
Society Congress, Clarinetwork International, and the International
Double Reed Society in Manchester, England. He is an extensive
recitalist, and during the summer months serves as principal
clarinet with the Great Music Festival of the West Orchestra.
Professor Harris is treasurer of Zeta Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda,
Honor Society in Music.
