U.S.
EMBASSY TO DECONTAMINATE MAILROOM AS PRECAUTION
Due
to the contamination of some Department of State mailroom facilities
in the Washington area by anthrax, the Department has asked
that all embassies worldwide pursue measures to ensure the safety
of mailroom facilities overseas.
In keeping with this request, the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest
is taking precautionary steps to ensure that its mail facilities
are not contaminated.
The U.S. Embassy states categorically that there is no evidence
of the presence of anthrax or any other bacteria related to
infectious diseases having been transmitted to the Embassy through
the diplomatic pouch or any other means. Rather, the measures
we are taking are precautionary in nature, designed to ensure
the safety of Embassy employees and the public.
